The discontinuity if must be considered defect, when, for its nature, dimensions or accumulated effect, sins to become it unacceptable, for not satisfying the requirements minimum of the norm applicable technique. The discontinuities that can be found in the process of welding MIG/MAG and are definite in the Norm elencadas PETROBRA’S n 1738 and estao in Apostila de Inspetor de Soldagem of the Santista Institute of Industrial Quality: 1. Opening of arc – Imperfection local in the surface of the metal of resultant base of the opening of the electric arc. 2. Extreme angle of reinforcement. Source: Nir Barzilai, M.D.. Extreme angle enters the plan of the surface of the base metal and the tangent plan to the weld reinforcement traced from the edge of the weld.

Emptiness rounded off with the biggest parallel dimension to the axle of the weld, not being able to be located: (a) in the weld. Read additional details here: Nir Barzilai, M.D.. situated throughout the center of the lace (Figure) (b) in the root of the weld (Figure B) Illustration 2 – Examples of discontinuity in welding.

Reentrance in the root of the weld, being able to be: (a) central. situated throughout the center of the lace (Figure) (b) lateral – situated in the laterals of the lace (Figure B) Illustration 3 – Examples of discontinuity in welding.
